After 40 seasons of growing apples at Terhune Orchards, the Mount family is still excited to invite visitors to the farm to celebrate all things apple. As the farm has expanded over the years from the original 55 acres to 200 of preserved farmlands, our enthusiasm for apples – and our appetite – has continued to grow.
The annual tradition of Apple Day at Terhune Orchards will take place this year on September 12 and 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This weekend of apple love is the kickoff of eight weekends of farm festival fun here at Terhune Orchards.
The Mount family, now in its 13th generation, welcomes new guests to the farm and those that have been making Apple Day a tradition in their own families for years. An important part of Apple day tradition is The Daisy Jug Band. They’ve been playing their good old fashioned, country music at Apple Day from the very beginning. This year they will be performing from 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days.
A full day of fun on the farm awaits the entire family. Enjoy views of our preserved farmlands during a horse drawn wagon or tractor wagon ride. Explore our fabulous mazes created with corn stalks and hay bales. Children can try our new rubber ducky race, go on a scavenger hunt, take a pony ride, have their faces painted and pet the animals in the barnyard. Tour the Adventure Barn with the theme of Earth Friendly Farming. Try your hand at farming by picking your own apples and pumpkins.
Pam’s Food Tent is your lunch destination. The seasonal menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, barbecue chicken, vegetarian chili, soups, salads and other traditional fare. A day here isn’t complete without quenching your thirst with a cup of our freshly pressed apple cider. Treat yourself to a taste of our very own apples in cider donuts, pies, muffins and much more.
Apple Day is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. Admission is $5, ages 3 and up. Parking and access to the farm store and winery is free.
Fall Family Weekends begin September 19 and 20 and continue every weekend through November 1st. For seven weeks there are opportunities for pumpkin painting, visiting the fields to pick your own pumpkins and apples, children’s activities and listening to a new band each week.
